Sept-Îles has 15 schools that provide primary and secondary education for its community, two of which, Flemming Elementary School and Queen Elizabeth High School, offer schooling in English. The Tshakapesh Institute, an organization dedicated to preserving Innu culture, is in charge of the education programs of the three First Nation schools in the area. In order to provide liberal adult education to the Innu community, the First Nations Board of Education established the Regional Centre of Adult Education of Uashat mak Mani-Utenam in 2015.
The student community of Sept-Îles can choose from a variety of university programs in the fields of engineering, human sciences and natural sciences. The CEGEP of Sept-Îles (general and vocational college) offers a total of 12 technical and pre-university programs, 12 of which are taught in English. Thanks to the Centre d’études universitaires de l’Est de la Côte-Nord, situated in the Alouette building of the UQAC (University of Québec and Chicoutimi), students are able to pursue their university education in the city of Sept-Îles.
The Vocational Training Centre of Sept-Îles is another option granting easier access to the labour market. Every year more than 250 adults acquire new skills that allow them to pursue a career in the sectors of health, construction or industrial mechanics especially.
